A memorable opportunity
Sarath Kumar's most excited about being a part of “Kochadaiyaan”. “A couple of years ago, I missed out on an opportunity to act with the Superstar. Thankfully this movie happened. I just completed the photo shoot for the film. I'm sure the film will be the first of its kind for Indian cinema,” he says. In addition to this project, he has over half-a-dozen in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, in hand. “In Tamil, I just completed ‘Vidiyal', slated to be released next month. Then comes the Tamil remake of Malayalam hit ‘Traffic',” says the actor. Looks like Sarath Kumar is going to be a busy man this year and the next!
Twice as nice
Actor Vijay is thrilled — twice over! He bagged two awards recently — the Edison Award for Best Actor and Superstar Rajini Award for his performance in the film “Velayutham”. “The year has begun with a bang for me. I hope to continue on this note with a lot of good films this year. My film with director A.R. Murugadoss is progressing well. It's a good project and the audience can expect some fireworks on the screen,” says Vijay.
Reel to real
In the film “Poraali”, actor-director Sasikumar sets up a self-help group with his friends. Now, he's given this reel instance a ‘real' twist — raising financial assistance for underprivileged students. When he was invited to address students at an educational institution in Kumbakonam recently, Sasikumar requested the group to provide free seats to deserving students in its school and college, which the group agreed to. After addressing the students, he asked them to donate liberally to help economically weak students buy books and other study materials. “In two days, the donation reached Rs. 1 lakh, which will be utilised to help nearly 40 students. After learning about this, a couple of colleges in Coimbatore too have invited me. I'm willing to visit any number of colleges so long as they are willing to provide free seats to deserving students,” he says. Apparently, actor-director Manivannan and actor Viddarth have decided to follow suit!
