Ajith's remake plans

Ajith has signed up for a film with director Siva of Siruthai fame for Nagi Reddy's Vijaya Productions. There is a lot of curiosity surrounding this project. Latest reports suggest that the film will be a remake of the Telugu film, Daruvu which has Ravi Teja and Taapsee in the lead. It was released yesterday and is being touted as an out and out masala entertainer.

Siva's last film, Siruthai which was also a remake of Ravi Teja's Vikramakoodu and had Karthi in the lead went on to become a smash hit. Clearly Ravi Teja is a lucky charm for director Siva!

A record for Ajith

All of Kollywood and the fans seem to be eagerly awaiting Billa 2.

And it looks like the film's crossed its first step towards the cinema halls, as the theatrical rights of the Ajith-starrer have been sold. The film is rumoured to have fetched an amount of Rs 24 crore, which is the highest amount that any Ajith film has fetched thus far. Aascar Ravichandran's company has reportedly bought the rights for the film, which is expected to hit the cinema halls in June, after the IPL season comes to an end.

Billa was one of the bigger hits in the past decade and with Mankatha, Ajith's 50th film striking gold at the box office last year, the race for buying the various rights for this film heated up all the more. No wonder, it is rumoured that the amount spent on acquiring the theatrical rights of Billa 2 is well over what Mankatha commanded last year. It definitely seems like everyone is eager to see Thala back on the big screen!

Ajith Kumar is not only an actor par excellence and professional racer but a talented chef as well. He displayed his cooking skills on the sets of Mankatha making biriyani and pasta for everyone. The entire team was raving about how delicious the food was.

Now he has done it again on the sets of Billa 2, during the Goa schedule. Ajith prepared his yummy slow - cooked biriyani which included chicken and mutton for nearly 150 people. He would check on his preparation before shots and when it was served to the unit members, they all swore it was the tastiest biriyani ever!

Ajith - Arya - Nayan film for Diwali 2012?

While 2011's Diwali was a festival for the Ilayathalapathy fans with the release of 'Velayudham', if sources are to be believed, this year Diwali will be a treat for Thala Ajith's fans for his project with Vishnuvardhan is expected to grace screens then.

"The film will go on floors by mid March and Vishnuvardhan is aiming at a quickie and will complete the film in about three months time. They are aiming for a Diwali 2012 release", says a source close to the unit.

The high voltage action entertainer will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and will be produced by AM Ratnam. Arya supposedly plays the villain in this movie. Vinod is the camera man for this yet-to-be-titled venture.

With the coming together of Ajith and Arya as hero and villain respectively and marking the comeback of Nayantara, this film is definitely one big project to look out for in K-town...

Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara have parted ways. There is news that Nayanthara has started accepting films. The last Tamil film in which she had acted was Boss Engira Baskaran. That film was a super hit. In spite of this Nayanthara has stopped accepting Tamil films.

Thalaivan Irukkiran to star Ajith?

Billa 2 team trying to rope in international singer Pitbull?

The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Ajith's Billa 2 team has approached American rapper Pitbull to sing a song in the film.First it was Akon in Murugadoss' Thuppakki now Pitbull.

The film is in final stages and is likely to grace theatres in April 2012. Rajsekhar is the cinematographer. Brazilian-Arab model Bruna Abdullah amd former Miss India Paravathy Omanakuttan are the leading ladies in the film. Vidyut Jamwal, who made his debut in John Abraham's Force, is the villain. The film, directed by Chakri Toleti, is a prequel to Billa and will narrate the story of David, a common man who latter becomes the world's most notorious don.

Bollywood star Sudhanshu Pandey, Sri Charan and Malayalam actor Manoj K. Jayan will also play prominent roles in this film.

'Billa 2's director Chakri Toleti has created a buzz on his microblogging page by posting "Exited...! Yuvan is on his way. Busy and fun week ahead...! Hollywood here we come". While Chakri was in Florida waiting for the music composer, Yuvan took a connecting flight from the US to Florida.

Rumour mills worked overtime and had it that the makers of 'Billa 2' will rope in international rap artist Pitbull for a number but inside birdies rubbished these immediately as nothing but rumours. But this message from Chakri has generated much speculation and buzz again for fans are waiting to see if an international artist will be a part of the film's music.

Yuvan has recorded three songs for 'Billa 2' so far and is still working on the title music. There's another track apart from the title music that is pending to be tuned for this film.

A prequel to the 2007 blockbuster 'Billa', this film will showcase how David, a commoner becomes the most feared don internationally and will see Ajith in a much younger and suave avatar.

Ajith and I are back, says Vishnuvardhan

The popular duos have produced some blockbuster hits in Tamil cinema.

After Billa, the Vishnuvardhan and Ajith combination is back on track to weave magic onscreen once again.

There are many rumours surrounding the Vishnuvardhan film. Some reports say that along with Ajith, Vishnu’s brother Krishna is playing a vital role in the film.

“I am undoubtedly directing Ajith’s next flick,” he says, adding, “Yes, we are back now. I am overwhelmed to work with Ajith again. I am currently working on the script.

After the action films we have done, Ajith and I have decided to work on an entertaining script rather than on any particular genre.

It is too early to talk about the star cast. Other than Ajith, nobody else has been confirmed yet.” Vishnuvardhan was ready with a fresh script for Billa 2 but dropped the project later.

Was he going to be re-working the same script? “No, this is a different story. Talks were on for working with Ajith last year itself. I was just sorting out the exact script for Thala,”

he clarifies. Have the issues regarding Billa 2 been sorted out? “There were no issues at all. I am glad to work with Ajith again.” Asked when the film would start shooting, he says, “The shooting begins in March and I am looking forward to a great time with Ajith on the sets.”

Now that the shooting of 'Billa 2' is over but for some patch work which will be completed in a few days, 'Thala' Ajith is gearing up to start his next. It will be directed by Vishnuvardhan.

"Actually Ajith has two projects in his hands. One to be helmed by Vishnuvardhan and the other by Siruthai fame Shiva. But Ajith chose Vishnuvardhan since it is a long due to work with him," circles close to the 'Thala' say.

They add: "It was Vishnuvardhan who was to direct Billa 2. But he missed it due to unavoidable reasons. At that time, Ajith promised Vishnu that he would work with him soon. The actor is honouring it now."

Another reason is said to be Shiva being busy with a Telugu film starring Ravi Teja and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. "The Ajith-Shiva venture will start after May 2012," sources say. It will be produced by Vijaya Productions to mark the centenary of its founder Nagi Reddy.

Ajith - Vishnuvardhan for Tamil 'Panjaa'?

There is always an enigma attached with Ajith and his films. The star, who is at the moment, busy with his upcoming 'Billa 2,' directed by Chakri Toleti, is touted to sign on the dotted line for a Vishnuvardhan directorial. Ajith's shoots at 'Billa 2' locales

Ajith is holding a parallel shooting on the sets of 'Billa 2'. There's nothing to read between the lines as we are talking about the Thala's love for photography. "During breaks, Ajith takes his camera out and captures all interesting things he comes across," say sources.

"When the shooting of Billa 2 was taking place in Goa recently, Ajith was walking on the sea shore when he spotted a beautiful sand figurine of Lord Shiva, which was yet to get a full shape. It was made by a foreign tourist and the Thala immediately clicked a photo of it," they say.

Talks on for 'Mankatha' sequel?

Director Venkat Prabhu has undoubtedly hit the bull's eye with his 'Mankatha' and the film is having a roaring run at the box office. While there were initial doubts whether the film would be a hit because of the hero donning a complete negative role, all that doubts were quashed from the moment 'Mankatha' was released.

Now post the huge moolah that Mankatha is raking in at the box office, the core team involved in the making of the film has met and is discussing about doing a sequel, reveal sources in the know. Neither the director nor the producer has commented in the affirmative regarding this, but well-placed sources have revealed that there might be a sequel on the cards.

It is a known fact that Venkat Prabhu had a different script for 'Mankatha' before Ajith came on board and the script was modified to suit thala; now that 'Mankatha' is a massive hit the director is planning to put to use his prior script too. Big booking for 'Mankatha'

Ajith fans have proved it again. Right from the moment the booking for 'Mankatha', the 50th of film of their Thala, began, they started thronging to cinema halls where the movie will be screened, to get tickets for first day.

Theatre sources say the response is so huge and they are so happy. Even online booking is witnessing a history of sorts, it is said. "Ajith is always referred to as king of opening. It has been proved once again," they add.

Sun Pictures, which is distributing 'Mankatha' in association with Radhika Sarathkumar's Radaan Media, is releasing the film in over 300 theatres in Tamil Nadu. "Since there are two holidays this week (Ramzan and Vinayaka Chathurthi), no doubt that the movie would see a gala opening," according to trade circles.
