The director was hunting for the female lead and approached Vidya Balan. However, Vidya citied date issues and pointed out her inability to be a part of The Bullet.Then the director reportedly approached Priyamani but the producers of The Bullet had insisted that they need a Bollywood star instead of someone from down south.
