Vimal becomes dad

The 'Kalavani' hero had a 'new release' on Sunday. His wife Priyadarshini gave birth to a baby boy at a private hospital in Chennai on the Krishna Jayanthi day, giving Vimal more than one reason to be happy.

The actor, who is celebrating the arrival of a new member to his family by distributing sweets to friends, colleagues and relatives, says, "I am so happy that a little Krishna has come to our house on Krishna Jayanthi Day."

Vimal, who was in love with Priyadarshini, a medical student and daughter of his relative, entered wedlock with her secretly during the shooting of 'Eththan', as her parents opposed to their affair.

At present, he is eagerly expecting the release of 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa', his second film with 'Kalavani' director and good friend Sargunam. He is also busy shooting for 'Ishtam', a remake of Telugu hit 'Yemaindhi Ee Vela'.

'Mankatha' meets the Censor Board today

It's official now. KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green has acquired the rights of 'Mankatha' from Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies and will 'proudly release' the film all over Tamil Nadu in a big way.

Known for producing movies starring Suriya and Karthi in the past, Gnanavel Raja is a close relative of the Sivakumars. He is happy that his company has acquired the prestigious 'Mankatha', which is the 50th film of 'Thala' Ajith.

Meanwhile, the movie will be viewed by officials from the Board of Film Certification (Censor Board) today. After their certification, it will hit the screens very soon, most probably on August 31.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, 'Mankatha' is an action thriller, which has Arjun, Trisha and Premgi Amaran among others in lead roles. It has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. "The film will be a treat to Thala fans," Venkat Prabhu says.

'Puli Vesham' gets U/A

Cinemimi [Tuesday, August 23, 2011]Veteran director P Vasu's forthcoming film 'Puli Vesham', which has RK in the lead role, has been given with U/A certificate by the Censor Board. The movie is getting ready to hit the screens come Friday.

With Karthik, Sadha and Divya Padmini playing pivotal roles, 'Puli Vesham', according to Vasu, is the story of a 'calm man' who is forced to take violence in hand. "The film can be enjoyed by everyone, cutting across all barriers," he says.

Throwing more light, he says, "Most of us have two faces. The one we show to the world and the other we keep to ourselves. This is the basic idea behind Puli Vesham. RK has given his best to the role."

"Srikanth Deva has reminded me Ilayaraja in this film," Vasu added। It is said that more than 200 prints of 'Puli Vesham' will hit the screens all over Tamil Nadu on August 26. Plans are also on to dub the film in Telugu.
