Actor Ryan Reynolds has filed for divorce from actress Scarlett Johansson
, days after news reports that said they were separated.

Reynolds, 34, and Johansson, 26, were married in Canada during a private ceremony in 2008. On December 14, the couple separated.

"We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated," the couple previously stated in a joint statement, adding that they are ending the relationship in good terms.

The couple decided not to seek spousal support as Johansson filed her divorce response simultaneously at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

Rumors have been spreading that Reynolds has been seeing actress Sandra Bullock, but her representative has denied this.
