"Rajini looks very handsome in 3D" ...

Cinemimi [Tuesday, December 04, 2012]
The 3D version of Sivaji – The Boss, which will be released on 12th December for Rajini’s birthday, was unveiled yesterday evening at Serene, Sathyam Cinemas. Two songs from the movie – Sahana and Vaaji, and a fight sequence were showcased in 3D for the select audience. The USP of the event was the Dolby Atmos surround system which has been installed at Serene, making it the first Indian cinema theater to employ this latest sound technology patented by Dolby. Sivaji 3D also becomes the first Indian movie which is being mixed in Dolby Atmos surround sound. At the event, audiences were treated to clips from an English movie and also demo videos about how Atmos works. Its unique feature is the way sound travels along with the object on the screen. The overhead speakers that have been installed complete the sound experience particularly for shots featuring thunder striking from the sky. In all, around 64 speakers will be installed in any theater that decides to employ Dolby Atmos. This event was a joint venture from the likes of AVM, Real Image, Prasad EFX and SPIcinemas. At the event, dignitaries from the above four firms were present. Shankar, KV Anand, Vairamuthu, editor Antony and villain Suman represented the Sivaji unit. A video of Rajini sharing his happiness about this entire initiative was aired at the start of the event. Shankar said that he was surprised at first when he came to know that Sivaji was being converted to 3D but now after seeing the movie, he feels stunned about the entire effort and admitted that Rajini looked very handsome on screen in 3D. He also expressed his praise for Atmos and thanked AVM for this engaging initiative. KV Anand also came in for praise from the ace director for his multilayered cinematography which felt so made and apt for 3D. KV Anand reminisced about Shankar’s involvement, attention to detail and Rajini’s co-operation on the sets. He also said that all the grandeur on screen in the songs were a result of the amazing sets and that none of them were created using CGI. He felt that the 3D experience is totally apt and new despite having seen the movie 40 to 50 times already. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the screening of the clips from Sivaji in 3D and one must say that the action on screen was engaging. The 3D effects are imaginative and some extra effects popping out of the screen add to the 3D fun. All eyes are now on 12-12-12, the release day and one may expect the movie to be a New Year and Pongal treat, as poet Vairamuthu said on the occasion.
