'Vandhaan Vendraan' released across theatres in the city today and is garnering decent response from the audience. This Jiiva-Taapsee Pannu flick is directed by Kannan, who has worked as Mani Ratnams assistant for nearly a decade. The director, who tasted success with 'Jayam Kondan,' with his latest, has provided a fast-paced film where Jiiva plays a boxer.
'Vandhaan Vendraan' released simultaneously in Telugu titled 'Vachudu Galichudu.' The director who takes extreme care of his scripts until perfection has filmed 'Vandhaan Vendraan' from beautiful and scenic locations just like his mentor. Kannan attributes his eye for perfection to his mentor (Mani Ratnam) for whom he has very high regards.
Kannan is reported to have shown a few songs and VVs trailer to his mentor, to which Mani Ratnam is believed to have replied a monosyllabic good. But Kannan cherishes his mentor's feedback because if the 'Raavanan' director had not liked what he saw he would have remained silent, revealed a beaming Kannan to the media.
The director cast Taapsee in this film after he saw some photos of the actress' after she won a beauty pageant, and this was even before Taapsee was cast in 'Aadukalam.' The director, it seems, felt she would fit the role of his lead lady in 'Vandhaan Vendraan.'
