Anushka in Ponniyin Selvan!

Anushka who has been creating waves in the Tamil film industry has been signed on as
Anushka Gallerys
one of the female leads in Mani Ratnams’s Ponniyin Selvan opposite Vijay. She will be playing Kundavai, the Chozha Princess, sister of Aditha Karikalan and Raja Raja Chozhan and the lover of Vallavarayan Vandiyathevan. The actress is very excited as her character is a meaty one with ample scope for her to display her histrionic talents.

Mani Ratnam is currently hunting for heroines to play the other important parts. Kundavai’s antagonist- Nandini Devi, a feisty boat girl who is destined to sit on the Chozha throne- Poongkuzhali, and Raja Raja Chozhan’s love interest- Vanathi are all plum roles that are yet to be filled. Every heroine worth her salt will gladly give an arm or a leg to be a part of this magnum opus.

Santosh Sivan will handle the camera and Sabu Cyril will take care of the art department. Shooting is scheduled to commence in October.
