The team members of 'Nanban' have come out with an advertisement in the print media, expressing gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for a recent decision by the State government to exempt the movie from entertainment tax.

It is to be noted that 'Nanban' became the first movie to be exempted from paying the tax after the AIADMK came to power in May last year. After viewing the film and satisfied with the newly laid rules, a 22 member committee took the decision.

Earlier in the DMK regime, all films which had a Tamil title were freed from paying entertainment tax, which amounts to 30 per cent of the collections. However as per the new rules, movies which have U certificate, good theme and maximum Tamil dialogues were only allowed to go tax-free.

Thanking the Chief Minister, the advertisement by 'Nanban' team read: "The Honourable CM of Tamil Nadu has always been supporting meaningful movies. We thank her sincerely on behalf of all members of Nanban cast and crew." 'Nanban' directed by Shankar has Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth in lead roles.
