Balu Mahendra to be honoured

He has traversed to different paths in film making. From being the cinematographer to writer to director there is nothing that Balu Mahendra has not lent his expertise to. Now the present generation of film folks is organizing an event to honor this veteran who has been instrumental in applying new techniques in the filmmaking process.

Soon an event will be organized by popular directors in the film industry, mostly Balumahendra's former assistants and now popular directors Bala, Vetrimaaran, and others like Ameer who will set this show going. Shivashankar will honor the ace director. The event will also see the presence of Aravind Swamy and Dhanush.

There is also a strong rumour in the industry that Sridevi Bonny Kapoor will fly down to Chennai to take part in this event which will felicitate her mentor.

Balu Mahendra's 'Moonram Pirai' that Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead roles is still afresh in our memory. Balu Mahendra's first film as a director was in Kannada and the film was 'Kokila' which fetched him the coveted National Award for the Best Director.
